Goals? You ask? Yes, that has been on my mind a lot lately. After I lost my job (it was a year this month since I lost my job at Hospice of the Red River Valley) I kind of went into a downward spin. I thought I was depressed from the loss of my job and didn't quite know what my purpose in life was (I now know, I have several purposes -being a good mom, wife, friend, daughter, sister, employee and most imporantly - Child of God!). This past summer I had my yearly physical and was talking to my nurse practioner about it but also mentioned to her my family history of thyroid disease. After having blood work done, ultrasounds, etc. I found out that I have hypothryroidism. It's genetic and easily managed by a small inexpensive pill every morning. Since getting this under control I have found energy I had forgotten I once had. I went from napping 1-2 times per day, not doing much and going to bed at 9pm to not napping at all, working 2 part-time jobs and caring for our house and son and going to bed at around 11pm or midnight. Most days I don't think there are enough hours. But....I still felt like something was missing....so here is where my goals come into play. I have been walking/running for the past couple of months here and there. I started out good, drifted, came back...you know how it goes. So today is the day!! :) And I am declaring it on my blog so that I am held accountable. I am signing up for a 10k in May and I started my first day of training today with a 1.5 mile run/walk...I just finished and I feel great. It's amazing how even that short amount can just lift up your spirits. 2 people particularly have motivated me to do it...1 being a good friend of mine, Gina. She is a marathoner and is training to try out for the olympic trials. CRAZY - I know. Yesterday she ran a half-marathon in Orlando and out of 13,000 she placed 4th!! 1st for women! I am very proud of her and admire her dedication. She has been a huge strength and motivation for me. The other women is an old friend, Lisa, that has trained for marathons and documents her training through her blog here. The reason she motivates me is because she is busy with a demanding job and all of lifes other distractions she is still able to take the time for herself to do this. So, I hope to keep you all updated and I know that this is another tool that will keep me motivated. Stay tuned...
Enough about me....here are some recent pictures of Hayden...
We have been working on a few DIY projects in our home. We started out in January with updating our office. We had a small desk and file cabinet and that was about it. I wanted to make a bigger desk so that I could also move all of my scrapbooking stuff in there. So I pained the walls, pained the cabinets and file cabinet and did some shopping. Jason did the installation - it's pretty much done, just don't have a picture to share yet...I'll get on that! :) Below is a picture of Hayden popping his head out of one of the cabinets when they were waiting to be installed.
Hayden has found the piano...maybe he will become a professional pianist (I can hope!)

Betsy, I am so touched at the call out! I am glad that I motivated you! I know you can do it! I will say, I have a huge amount of respect and admiration for you moms. You do so so so much! Yes I have a busy lifestyle but I know it's nothing compared to caring for a child!!
Good luck with the training! So excited for you - you will rock at it. Especially since you already have natural athletic abilities, unlike me! ;)
Love the pics of Hayden! He is such a cutie.
