My Grandma Dyste passed away this past weekend on Saturday, June 27th. It was a very sad day but I am also happy, because I know my grandma is no longer struggling to breathe and is with my grandpa John in Heaven. Last week Hayden and I went and visited on Monday and she seemed pretty good. But as the week progressed she started to decline. On Friday my mom called and said that she wasn't doing very well. So I went down to Forman to see her. She was still able to communicate and even joked around a little bit. She asked us about Michael Jackson and even wanted some beer...she never drank beer! That night she declined very fast. When I went back in the morning she was only communicating to ask for water and by early afternoon she was not communicating at all. My cousin Jonathan was coming from Washington DC to see her and he was the last grandchild to see her in the last 2 weeks. He arrived at around 2:15pm and we all headed outside to watch Forman's 125th celebration parade. While most of us were watching the parade the nurse came to let those that weren't inside know that she had passed away. I am so glad that she went quickly and that she did not suffer.
My grandma is one of my favorite people. I grew up next door to my grandparents and have many good memories of them. Spending the night and knowing that I had my grandpa's undershirt for pj's and a toothbrush always there if I needed it. Her cooking...man could she cook! - her prune whip, dressing, pies, fudge. All of our visits in her family room, the way her face lit up when she saw one of her great-grandchildren and I could go on and on. She was a spunky lady and always told it like it was all the while shaking a finger in your face.
She will be missed by so many...especially me! I love you grandma Dorothy!
