We had a great 4th of July vacation at the lake this past week. With the 4th landing on Wednesday this year, Jason was able to take the rest of the week off as was the rest of my family.
Tuesday
Wwe got to the cabin and had Zorbaz nachos and hotdogs! We LOVE Zorbaz nachos!
Wednesday
We swam, went for a couple boat rides and Jason's parents came to the cabin for the afternoon/evening. We grilled burgers and had lots of other great food to go with them. Later that night we sat outside waiting for the fireworks. The bugs were awful and it was super humid so we went in and out to see the fireworks. It was almost midnight when Mr. Hayden finally went to bed.
Thursday
We went to the Detroit Lakes Zorbaz to meet Jason's parents and Jeremy and Heather. After that we went to Rose Lake to hang out with all of them for the day. Jeremy and Heather have a spot there and Jason's parents rented a spot for the week. We went boating and Hayden went for his very first tube ride. He loved it. Jason tried skiing, but wasn't able to get up on the skis. Jeremy showed us how it was done. We then had a huge steak supper outside. It was a beautiful day!
Friday
A rainy day at the lake! So we went into Fargo. We left Clara with my parents at the cabin. We all ate at the mall, Emily and I did a little shopping, Jason entertained the boys and Scott and Sara went to his parents in Fargo. Then Emily, Jason, Hayden, John and I went to Madagascar 3. It was really cute! We then went back to the cabin for a shrimp boil.
Saturday
Another hot, sunny day. The big boys went golfing, Emily went for a walk, so my mom and I took the kids for a walk. It was good to get them a little worn out since they have a whole lot of energy and sometimes that energy turns into naughtiness! :) We did more swimming and hanging out. Jason grilled a turkey with his new turkey cannon he got after his grilling class. It turned out really well and we will definitely be doing that again.
Sunday
And another hot day! The Boelke's and Enger's all went golfing. Picture this....4 adults, 4 kids (ages - 5,4, 2, 11 months), 2 pull carts (no motorized charts available), 1 carrying clubs, 1 stroller, 80 + degree day, very hilly course, a 2-yr old and 4-yr old that wouldn't walk, a baby that needed to be carried because said 2-yr old went in the stroller....do you get my picture yet...we only made it 4 holes, but we gave my parents a little time to get a few things done at the cabin and wore the kids out! After that we hung out for a little bit and packed up and headed back home.
All in all it was a very fun long weekend. Great weather to be at the lake.
We are home for a whole week and then another vacation starts again....we won't be at the lake the whole time but it will be a busy one. A recap on that at a later date.
Other things....
Hayden had an appointment with this asthma doctor. He is now doing an inhaler twice a day every day instead of a nebulizer. I am not sold on the inhaler yet, as it is pretty difficult for a 4-yr old to do. I'm giving it another week and then we'll see. His dr. said that he won't be outgrowing it, but may get to the point that he won't need to do anything on a daily basis. Just on an as needed basis. We will continue with yearly appointments.
Clara is changing daily! She will 1 in a month! HOW CRAZY IS THAT???!?!?!? She waves hi, claps, does "so big", dances, says dada, stands up in the middle of the room all by herself and is getting close to taking her first steps. She is pretty quick crawling so she usually goes with what she knows. She LOVES food! Her favorites - fruit of any kind, potato salad, spaghetti, yogurt melts, carrots....actually, pretty much anything you put in front of her.
