Hayden's Birthday was last Wednesday! What a great day! He finally was feeling better and it was the perfect day to spend outside. We had pizza (his fav!) for lunch and then G&G Bishoff and G&G Enger came for supper. Hayden blew out his birthday candle all by himself and LOVED the chocolate cupcake!
It's amazing that 2 years ago our little boy entered our lives. It has been an amazing journey and we are so blessed!!!
On Friday we went to Fargo for his 2 yr. check up - he weighs 30.5 lbs and is 37 inches long. My dad once heard that you double your height at the age of 2 and that is how tall you will be when you are fully grown - in that case Hayden should be about 6 ft. 2 in. WOW! He'll be a big boy just like his daddy! We had done some blood work last Monday when we were there regarding his lymph node and everything came back fine. She thinks he might just have large ones and we might need to consult an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist. She said we would wait and see how it looks in about a month.
On Saturday I ran in the Fargo Marathon 10k. I started training in March and I'll be honest, I didn't know if I could do it. I was SOOO nervous this past week in anticipation for this run. It was an amazing experience. I had a blast and I will definitely be doing another race again. Before I signed up for this I said I would NEVER do a half ~ now I can honestly say it is on my to do list! NEVER SAY NEVER! :)
During my training I ran some and walked some as well and expected to do the same during the race. I think the excitement, my adrenaline and all the people pushed me because I didn't stop to walk at all during the entire race. I ran the 6.2 miles in 1:11. Which was under my goal. It was definitely a proud moment!
At the starting line the speakers said "it's not the race, it's the journey!" which was so true ~ this journey did several things for me - 1) helped me to loose some weight and tone up a bit, 2) develop a wonderful relationship with my friend, Shannon (she's in the pink - we signed up and trained together) and 3) most importantly proved to myself that I can do something I NEVER thought I could do! On the back of our finishers medal this was inscribed -
"Let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us" - Hebrews 12:1
My friend, Gina had a HUGE day on Saturday. She finished the full marathon in 2:57! It was a personal record for her and she came in 2nd place for females! She has been such an inspiration!
On Saturday Jason and Hayden went to the farm in the morning and I joined them after the marathon. Jason helped his dad with the cattle and Hayden got to watch with WIDE eyes! He loves the farm and seeing the cows, calves and kitties. On Sunday we had a birthday party for him and he got so many awesome gifts. He even got his very own tractor from G&G Enger. It was a great day with family.
