What a JOURNEY!

Hayden's Birthday was last Wednesday!  What a great day!  He finally was feeling better and it was the perfect day to spend outside.  We had pizza (his fav!) for lunch and then G&G Bishoff and G&G Enger came for supper.  Hayden blew out his birthday candle all by himself and LOVED the chocolate cupcake!
It's amazing that 2 years ago our little boy entered our lives.  It has been an amazing journey and we are so blessed!!!
On Friday we went to Fargo for his 2 yr. check up - he weighs 30.5 lbs and is 37 inches long.  My dad once heard that you double your height at the age of 2 and that is how tall you will be when you are fully grown - in that case Hayden should be about 6 ft. 2 in.  WOW!  He'll be a big boy just like his daddy!  We had done some blood work last Monday when we were there regarding his lymph node and everything came back fine.  She thinks he might just have large ones and we might need to consult an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist.  She said we would wait and see how it looks in about a month.
On Saturday I ran in the Fargo Marathon 10k.  I started training in March and I'll be honest, I didn't know if I could do it.  I was SOOO nervous this past week in anticipation for this run.  It was an amazing experience.  I had a blast and I will definitely be doing another race again.  Before I signed up for this I said I would NEVER do a half ~ now I can honestly say it is on my to do list!  NEVER SAY NEVER!  :)
During my training I ran some and walked some as well and expected to do the same during the race.  I think the excitement, my adrenaline and all the people pushed me because I didn't stop to walk at all during the entire race.  I ran the 6.2 miles in 1:11.  Which was under my goal. It was definitely a proud moment!
At the starting line the speakers said "it's not the race, it's the journey!"  which was so true ~ this journey did several things for me - 1) helped me to loose some weight and tone up a bit, 2) develop a wonderful relationship with my friend, Shannon (she's in the pink - we signed up and trained together) and 3) most importantly proved to myself that I can do something I NEVER thought I could do!  On the back of our finishers medal this was inscribed -
"Let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us" - Hebrews 12:1
My friend, Gina had a HUGE day on Saturday.  She finished the full marathon in 2:57!  It was a personal record for her and she came in 2nd place for females!  She has been such an inspiration!
On Saturday Jason and Hayden went to the farm in the morning and I joined them after the marathon.  Jason helped his dad with the cattle and Hayden got to watch with WIDE eyes!  He loves the farm and seeing the cows, calves and kitties.  On Sunday we had a birthday party for him and he got so many awesome gifts.  He even got his very own tractor from G&G Enger.  It was a great day with family.

Ups & Downs

The past week or two has had some ups and downs!  This pretty much sums up our past week or two
....run, swim, puke, run, build, picnic, puke, run, doctor, run.
It has been a little exhausting!  But we are managing! :)
On the 8th I ran in a 5k in LaMoure with my friend Shannon.  We are running in the 10k together so we thought we would do a 5k together before the Fargo run.  Well, it had it's ups and downs.  Time-wise I did it in about 3 or 4 min. better than I was hoping but I felt like I wasn't able to run for long distances at a time as I am able to do on the treadmill.  I think this is for 2 reasons a) my treadmill sets my pace for me and b) I get a little anxious when I don't know exactly where I am at with my run.  I think if I continue to run I will be purchasing a Garmin to help me.
During the week we decided to get out of dodge (since the weather has not been cooperating lately!) and we went to Detroit Lakes to visit the Barker's.  The age gap between the boys is getting less noticeable and they are starting to play with each other.  We went swimming at a local hotel for about 2.5 hours and the boys had a blast.  We tired them out because they crashed that night!  I think both moms did too!  It was fun to see them.  Meg took pictures so I will have to get them from her and post later!  (HINT MEG! :)
We also went to Fergus Falls and visited my friend Julie and met her son, Odin.  He was born at the beginning of April and it was fun to see him.  He was so cute and sleepy.  I forget those days.  As I was holding him I almost forgot how to handle a newborn.  It seems like forever ago.

We got back and on Friday morning Hayden woke up that morning and threw up as I was getting him out of his crib.  He proceeded to throw up all day...until about 3pm.  After that he was bouncing around like nothing happen.  We pretty much laid in bed all day and he some how managed to throw up on every piece of bedding on my bed...including the bed skirt.  As soon as I would leave the room to do something he would throw up and of course not go for the bucket!  UGH!  So we did load after load after load of laundry.  And we had to cover the bed in towels!  Then that night he threw up again in the middle of the night.
On Saturday Jason started building a sandbox for Hayden!!  YAY!  We are excited to have that for this summer.  Hayden of course had to help and the boys were so busy that we had a picnic for lunch that day.  Hayden thought it was pretty neat.  He LOVES being outside.  He was outside for most of the day on Saturday.  That night he threw up again and so did I.  Not fun!  So again yesterday he did the same thing..bouncing around all day and then threw up in the middle of the night.  So enough was enough. I took him to see his pediatrician today and she said that it must be a bug that is just taking a little slower to work it's way out.  She didn't seem overly concerned about it.  She was however a little worried about one of his glands that was swollen in his neck.  We had been there about a month ago for his recheck after his ER visit with G&G Enger and it was swollen then.  So she wanted to have some blood work done to see what was going on.  So he had some blood drawn (he didn't make so much of a whimper! - I was proud!) and we will see what's going on.  We go back on Friday for his 2 yr. check up.

Summer is finally here!  It sounds like this week is suppose to be awesome!   Nice to finally have some sun! This week is going to be a BUSY one!  Hayden's birthday is on Wednesday!  Can you believe he is already 2!?!? I can't!  So we are having a little party that evening, we go to Fargo on Friday for his check-up and will be staying over night so that I can run in the Fargo 10k on Saturday.  I am super nervous, but kind of excited.  And really anxious for it to be over! :)  Then on Sunday we will be celebrating Hayden's birthday at G&G Enger's farm with family.  So we will have lots of pictures to post for next week and an update on the 10k!  Enjoy the beautiful weather!.
