Birthday Parties!

What a weekend! We started out the weekend by going to Fargo for Hayden's 1 year check-up. He is 24 lbs (76%), 31 inches (87%) and doing great. He had to get shots, which he didn't like too much, but his dr. said he is doing great.
Saturday we had Hayden's birthday party. It was a fun day and he LOVED his birthday cake and presents. At first he just picked at the icing on the cake and then when he realized that there was cake underneath he went to town.
Sunday we had John's birthday party. He is funny and can be so shy. He is so sweet and when he warms up to you is just the goofiest kid I know! It was a lot of fun to see Hayden and John together. They love being together and now are able to interact a little bit more.

This week has been kind of a tough one for my family. Today my grandma will be going into a nursing home in Forman. She is just getting too frail to be living at home. She is 86 and has a lot of health problems. We all know it's for the best but it is such a difficult move. It has been very emotional. Hayden and I are planning on going over this afternoon to visit her and help her get settled in. I know the first few days will be especially tough.

Well, Hayden just woke up from a 2 1/2 hour nap! YAY! so I better go and get him. Have a great weekend!

Finally Nice Weather

Hayden got to swing on his new swing set on his birthday. He LOVES it! It will be so nice to enjoy this summer. Hopefully the weather will continue to be nice.
We are heading out to the lake tomorrow afternoon for the weekend. We will be having Hayden's birthday party on Saturday and then our nephew John's birthday party on Sunday (his 2nd birthday is June 5th). It will be a fun/busy weekend. We will have lots of pictures to post after the weekend. I'm looking forward to him digging into his cake! Can't wait!

Did anyone else watch American Idol last night! WOW! What a show and I absolutely could not believe that Kris Allen won! I was so excited, since he has been the one that I have been cheering for from the beginning. I thought for sure that Adam would win, but I guess not.

Hayden was playing in his play room the other day. He LOVES books. He will sit in front of his bookshelf, take every book off of the shelf and start looking through all of them. He now is starting to grab books and bring them over to me to read to him. I just hope he continues to enjoy them.

Birthday Boy

1 year ago today our little boy was born! WOW!! How time flies. I can't believe it has already been 365 days. I honestly don't know how it happened. It just amazes me how much our lives have changed in 365 short days. 365 days ago he could cry, eat, poop and pee....now he does all of those things (very well, thank you! :) plus he laughs, he smiles, he dances, he walks, he crawls, he says mama and dada, he gives kisses, he waves, he gets excited when he sees Elmo on the TV, he gets really excited when he sees his bottle (which will be going away soon!)...
We use to go out till 2 am, we traveled here and there whenever, if one of us wanted to go do something with friends we just went, I went to the bathroom without someone else in the room, I took showers whenever I wanted to, we could sleep in.....the list goes on and on.
Now - we have to find a babysitter if we want to go out and we are still usually home early because we will have to be up at around 6:30am, we can't just pick up and decide we would like to go somewhere...we need to plan ahead, we need to pack up the entire house if we go somewhere, we have to constantly follow a little boy around and say no-no about every 5 seconds, we have to change diapers, we have to make him bottles....we GET to love the most beautiful boy in the world.
We are so lucky and so blessed. I thank God every night that Hayden choose us to be his parents. This year has been tough but so very rewarding and I can only hope that we are doing a good job raising our little boy to be an honest, hard working, appreciative person.
Happy Birthday my little Bubba! I love you very much!

My First Mother's Day

Being a mother was something I always knew I wanted to be. Sure there was a time in college that I didn't think I would have kids. Maybe more because I didn't think I would ever find a guy that I would want to spend the rest of my life with - but I did! :) So because I found Jason, I was able to fulfill that dream. When you are younger people always ask you what you want to be when you grow up...a teacher, a nurse, a doctor, a lawyer...I still don't know what I want to be, other than a mother. So I feel very blessed that the one true calling in my life is now a reality. I am very proud of our little boy and the family that we are making. And I think that being a mom has made me so much more appreciative of the other mothers in my life. My mom, my mother-in-law, my grandma, my sister, my friends...they have all been a wealth of knowledge and I know I would not have gotten through the past year without their support. So to all of you mothers out there...Happy Mother's Day!

Buddies

Hayden's buddy Jack (my friend Ann's youngest) came over to play a few times this past week while Ann got ready and had a party for Jack's big brother Rodney's 6th birthday. Hayden and Jack are only 2 months apart and I know they will be best buds. They both light up when they see each other. I can't wait to watch them grow up together and see all of the trouble they get into together....and also the fun stuff they do together.

New Tricks

Hayden and Lucy waiting for Daddy to come home

Hayden found the computer and wanted to add a message to our blog...he says.."aseoudimbwoua" (love you!!)

The weather hasn't been so nice lately so we have been couped up inside. We are hoping for some nice weather soon. A little over a week ago it was in the 80's so we spent a lot of time outside that day. It was Hayden's first time on the grass and he didn't quite know what to think about it. He would put his hands down and pulled them back quick and made silly faces. It must have been too prickly for him. So I brought out a blanket and we sat on that for awhile and had a little snack. He loves being outside.

Hayden has been so busy lately! It's just amazing to me how much he can change in such a short amount of time. Hayden is now fully mobile!! He crawls, he climbs stairs and he walks....YES WALKS!!! It's just crazy! He loves it and thinks he is pretty cool. And he is now talking. In the same week he started saying dadadada and mamamama. Dada comes out more often but when he is hungry and I am getting him his lunch, snack, etc...is when I hear mama. What a boy, huh? :)

Hayden is having his first sleep over tomorrow night. He is going to the farm to stay with Grandma and Grandpa Enger. We are going to the Elton John/Billy Joel concert, so he is going to spend some time with them. I know he will have a great time and I know they will love spending some time alone with him without mom and dad. We are so thankful that both of our parents are close by and always willing to babysit.
