Milestones & Merry Christmas

Hayden, our lovely first born - he is laid back and thinks he is a big boy. So he will not roll over for us. It kind of bothers me and I don't know why. Maybe because he is our first born and I want to be that new mommy with the camera and video camera watching him do it for the first time, but I honestly think he will skip this milestone all together. He doesn't need to roll over. He gets so close and then rolls right back. He hates being on his tummy and now he can sit up all on his own. So what's the point of this rolling over business when I can sit up and watch the world. I'll get over it as soon as he starts crawling! :) He has had so many other milestones like his first smile, sleeping through the night, getting teeth in and now sitting up that I am happy as a new mommy I can document those, so in time I will get over it, but I have to whine about it now! :)

Merry Christmas to all of you! I'm not quite sure who reads this, but whoever you are :) thank you for being our family and our friends. We are so blessed with such wonderful people in our lives. I hope each of you has a wonderful and safe holiday season and remember the true meaning on the season. Our wish to you - Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2009

Family

There are many days that I think to myself - how did I get so lucky? I have a great, supportive family, I married my wonderful husband with a such a caring, supportive family and now have a beautiful, healthy son that amazes us every day. Does it get any better than this? And during this time of year is when I am especially thankful. Thanks family for your love and support - we are the luckiest people!

6 months already?? Giving Thanks!

Hayden is 6 months old already. Can you believe it? I can't! It seems like yesterday was May 19th I remember walking into the ER at the Lisbon Hospital and the ward clerk looking at me like I was growing antlers and couldn't understand why a pregnant lady who claims her water broke would walk into this particular hospital that does not deliver babies.
Well...here we are 6 months later...he has gained over 12 pounds, grown over 7 inches, has 2 teeth, is eating baby cereal and food, giggles all day long, sleeps every night for at least 10 hours and is the absolute love of our lives. We went to church this morning and our pastor's sermon (I do pay attention! :P) talked about how we should thank God more often for all of our blessings. He couldn't be more right and I do thank God every day that Hayden is healthy, happy and in our lives.

The above pictures are of Hayden hanging out with two of his buddies - Cooper Groven, who turned 1 in October and Lucy, our puppy. Cooper is the son of my very good friend Mandy who I met in high school. We have kept in touch through out the years and I am thankful I can call her my friend. And Lucy another love of our lives. Our first baby! :) It is amazing to us how much she loves Hayden and how much she has settled down since he was born. We can put him on the floor and she will lay down right next to him and just cuddle. I give thanks that she didn't resent us for bringing a baby home!

And lastly, yesterday, I went to Fargo to do some early Christmas shopping and to run some errands. I met my friend Bill, who I use to work with at State Bank & Trust, for lunch and also went to the movie Twilight with my cooking club. 4 of us were able to go and having not read the book (I didn't even know anything about it before this week...I have been living under a rock!) I really enjoyed it. I think I will now go out and read it along with its sequels. It was very good and I would suggest it to anyone.

Halloween!!

We got Hayden and Lucy all dressed up last night for Halloween! It was a lot of fun.
Lucy's costume was very appropriate - I think she should be locked up on a regular basis, so what better thing to be than a prisoner. She didn't particularly like the hat, but she kept it on long enough to take some pictures. And Hayden didn't mind having his costume on one bit. He didn't have it on long either since we didn't go out trick-or-treating. Next year will be different I am sure.

Nov. 1st Update

It has been a long time since I have blogged, so I have lots to update - Hayden is growing SOOOO fast - he has 2 teeth that have started to come in. I can't believe it. He is also sitting up in his high chair when he eats his cereal and to play also. The last 5 months have gone so fast it's like we blinked and here we are. He still has no interest in rolling over which I'm starting to get a little worried that he is too laid back. He has started rolling onto his side when he is on his back but hasn't started the process on his tummy since he hates being on his tummy and he just buries his head in his blanket. We'll get there!

Hayden's great-grandma Piehl came to visit us recently. She hadn't seen him in awhile, so it was nice to see her and she said he has changed quite a bit since she last saw him. It seems like he is changing everyday.

We went down to my sister's in St. James a few weeks ago and went to a Pumpkin Patch. They had a lot of fun things to do for the kids - corn maze, petting zoo, story book land and lots and lots of pumpkins. John picked out a couple. We really enjoy our visits with them. We just wish we could do it more often. With the holiday season coming up it won't be too long before we see them again.

My friend Meg posted this quiz on her blog so I did it and amazingly with only answering 2 questions it "knows" who you are. I couldn't believe it. It is pretty true. Or maybe not. Big Boy!

What a day! Our little boy is getting so big! Hayden has started eating cereal and it is finally going well. As you can see he probably wears more of it than he eats, but we are getting there. Then after getting all messy it was time for a bath. He loves his bath. I can't wait until he is playing with toys and splashing (not too much) around! He is already almost 5 months old and I can not believe how fast it is going. I am trying to absorb every minute but I know in a few months I will look back and think where has the time gone. Soon he won't be a baby anymore and will be a boy.

My Boys!

I came home from a night out with the girls to my boys sleeping. They had fallen asleep watching football or Sports Center or some sporting event. But I couldn't pass up this photo op. Like father like son!

Cousins!

How cute are these boys? John just loves his cousin Hayden. We met my sister and her family in Mpls a few weeks ago and went to a Twins game. The boys got to hang out with my cousin Ashley and her boyfriend Tony while we went to the game. John is so funny because when Hayden is around he either wants to hug him all the time or if you are holding Hayden he wants to hug you just to make sure you don't forget about him. What fun these boys will have together in the years to come.

Is it Summer Yet?

My parents are in the process of buying a cabin on Turtle Lake! HORRAY! We are so excited and I know that they are too. We can't wait until next Summer to enjoy the lake. I have grown up going to the lakes in the Summer and I have turned Jason into a lake person so if we don't have anything else planned on the weekends you can find us at the lake. Next Summer will be so much fun - we will be able to make sandcastles, go swimming and go for pontoon rides. I have so many great memories of going to the lakes and I hope that our kids will too when they go to Grandma and Grandpa Bishoff's lake.

Update!

It has been awhile since I have blogged, so here are a few from the past month or so. Hayden is now 3 months old and he is getting so big. He is still such a great baby. Daycare says that he is the best baby they have ever had. He only fusses when he is hungry or tired and he has been sleeping anywhere from 7-10 hours a night. I really don't know how we got to be so lucky but we are really blessed with such an awesome kid. He is so smiley and giggles all the time. He has started sucking his thumb a lot, so we are trying to keep a nuk in his mouth instead. I know I can eventually take that away. But it is really cute when he finds his thumb.

The family photo is of us at my cousin Angie's wedding. We had a great time and had to take a family (minus Lucy) pic since we were all dressed up.

BIG Smile

I absolutely love that smile! It just makes my heart melt every time. The best is when his dad comes home from work and is holding him and he just starts to smile. He loves his daddy!
Hayden is already 2 months old. We had his 2 month check up on Monday and he is 12 lbs. and 3 oz. and is 23 1/8 inches long. He is getting so big and his first 2 months of life have gone so fast. He is such a great baby and has been sleeping anywhere from 5-8 hours at night. How lucky are we???

4th of July

4th of July at the Lake - it was a great time with my family. We Spent a long weekend there going to a parade, shopping, boat rides, lots of eating, playing in the sand, blowing bubbles and so much more. Next 4th of July will be such a difference with a 1 year old who can play in the sand with his big cousin. I am looking forward to it already.

He's FINALLY here!!!

Hayden James Enger arrived on Monday, May 19th, 2008 at 3:10pm in the Lisbon Hospital. I woke up that morning feeling good - no signs of labor - and about 9:30am I started having contractions. They weren't very strong or even consistent. Around noon I decided to start keeping track of them. They were about 15-20 minutes apart, so I called Meritcare at 1pm and they told me to wait another hour or so to see how things went. At 1:3opm I called Jason at work and told him he probably better come home since my contractions were getting a little stronger (but still nothing too bad) and a little closer together. At about 2pm I was laying in bed and started having another contraction and my water broke. I called Meritcare again to let them know and then told me to stop at the hospital in Lisbon first just to be safe. Good thing we did, because we walked in the Emergency Room in Lisbon at around 2:20pm and Hayden was born at 3:10pm. The doctor checked things out and within about 15 minutes time we went from going in the ambulance, then the doctor going with in the ambulance to delivering the baby right then and there. It was a very quick labor - everyone keeps telling me how lucky I am and that I should have about 10 more. I think we will wait to discuss more children for another year or 2. :)
Hayden is absolutely perfect and such a great baby. We are truly blessed!!!
And of course - 2 other loves of my life! John and Lucy! John came to meet his new cousin over the weekend and here is a picture of the two of them looking out the window. How cute are they? John will be 1 next week! The year has flown by! I can't believe it! He is such a good boy, but when he is hungry or wants something he is very impatient and has a VERY annoying grunt to let his mom know he wants it NOW! I just hope he doesn't do that when he 15! :)

Any day.....

This pictures was taken at 35 weeks - just before we went to the Bon Jovi concert....picture this...8 month pregnant lady walking around a bunch of drunks at huge concert and huffing it all the way to the top of the building for her seat. It wasn't pretty! It was a great concert but I wish we would have spent the extra $20 for better seats so I wouldn't have almost suffered a heart attack.
I am now at 38 weeks and the doctor says it could be any day. It's a very strange feeling knowing that at any time your life will change and at this moment I can't even imagine how different it will be. I know it will, but until you are there you just don't know. Hopefully within the next couple of weeks I will have BABY pictures up.

John and Emily were home for a long weekend in April. It was so great to see them and John is just the cutest, sweetest little boy. He is my dad's little buddy and my dad just eats it up. My mom however is a little jealous, especially when he gives great big hugs to everyone but her! :) I think he already knows what we all know about grandma....ya gotta give it to her! :)
John and his great-grandma Dorothy...When I first uploaded these pictures I almost started crying when I saw these two together. How sweet! Grandma D has been such an important part of our lives since we grew up next to her and seeing her with my nephew and soon my child makes me really happy that she will be there to experience this part of our life like she has with every milestone in our lives.

32 Weeks!!

32 weeks! Oh my god!! I can't believe that we are only 8 weeks (give or take) away from the arrival of our baby. It seems like it was just yesterday that I took the home pregnancy test and here we are trying to be patient to meet our little one. We are ready, in terms of things! We have the room done, car seat purchased a few other odds and ends. I don't know how ready we will be for the emotions.
